1 VISITING KNITTING CELEBRITIES!

Well I didn't know quite what to expect from a visit by Arne and Carlos but I have to say that we all had a simply wonderful time with them. They are the just the loveliest pair that you would ever wish to meet! Because of their image and the fact that they knit all sorts of quirky things I thought that their approach to knitting might be somewhat whimsical. In actual fact it showed their committment to and respect for Norwegian knitting traditions which they have reinterpreted and on which their work is based. In Sunday's workshop we learnt a lot about Norwegian knitting and its cultural history. Arne and Carlos are passionate and keen to share their knowledge and did so in a way that was captivating and entertaining.

Below is our photo album of our day with these Norwegian knitting celebs! After they left us (keen to return) they went off to film Kirsty Alsopp's home-made Christmas special in Devon. Since they had forgotten to bring with them thier knitted Christmas balls they borrowed ours. You can already see them on Instagram! (@oxfordyarnstore and @arnecarlos)

We have signed copies of Arne and Carlos's books available in the Store. The garments in their new Rowan collection New Nordic are proving very popular. We have an offer running until tomorrow (Saturday October 13th) of 10% of yarn for any of these patterns. This includes Rowan Kidsilk Haze and Rowan Felted Tweed. There is also time to knit lots of Arne and Carlos's Christmas balls for your own hand-made Christmas!

Happy Knitting

Karen
