REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL!

A lovely Australian visitor to Oxford came by the other day with her husband who was clearly no stranger to a knitting shop. He soon found himself a seat, opened a bag bearing the name of a local bookshop and embarked on a crime novel with the good-humoured air of one who knew that he was in for the long-haul. His wife, meanwhile, was chatty and exceptionally good company as she got down to the serious business of seeking out the yarn that she would most like to take home with her. This took a while but eventually, with the transaction concluded, she alerted her husband who jolted into attentiveness then sprang up in a rather theatrical fashion, looked around the shop with arms outspread and declared 'What! You're finished already and there's still yarn on the shelves?!' I admire a man who is supportive of their partner's knitting habit, don't you? And anyone who can make us chuckle during these dreary days of Brexit overload is most welcome hereabouts.

As the days grow colder the knitting fever hots up. We have lots of workshops going on, new yarns to admire and a convivial atmosphere in which to do so. I am setting out for Budapest tomorrow morning, another excuse to knit my way across Europe by train. I will arrive on Saturday morning for a week's visit with my son leaving James, who is never short of a quip himself, to keep up the jollity here at the wool face.

Thanks for your photos - keep them coming!

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

  more on hedgeknits yarn
We recently fatured our new range of hand dyed yarn from Hedgeknits.  People have been asking about it so here is some more information about these beautiful and unique yarns.

The yarn is 100% British Corridale, thick to thin bulky, spun in the UK.  Each skein is 250g/ 250m, Needle size 8-10mm depending on what you are making.
It looks fantastic knitted, crocheted and perfect for wall hanging and needle punching.
One skein will knit a long scarf with fringing, a cape, a hat and scarf, 2 skeins make a jumper!
Every skein is unique depending on the plants, herbs or extracts used so not a yarn that has colour matching, we love the differences in tone and colour as it knits, it has natural speckles in it giving it a nice overall look.
