Knitting Therapy - Oxford Yarn Store
  knitting therapy

The words 'knitting' and therapeutic' are often used together, as any initiate of the craft will be aware. Never has this been more relevant than right now. I made a new year's resolution to avoid contentious issues and to stick to the benign subject of knitting but how is this possible when poltics impinges on our favourite passtime? I have just read the latest correspondance from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs telling me how to prepare myself for Brexit. The prospect of a 'no deal' scenario throws up numerous hurdles for anyone committed to maintaining the flow of essential supplies from beyond these isles. We carry on knitting regardless.

Meanwhile back at the wool face there is much to distract and delight us from all of this. For instance the silk mohair shawl/scarf that we featured in last week's newsletter has piqued a lot of interest. It takes 3 balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze or Isager Silk Mohair and the resulting knitted fabric feels like candy floss! It's great fun to play around with shade combinations and no doubt the results will soon be on show in our Customer Knits featured below.

Angelika caused quite a sensation at Knit Club with this so simple wrap knitted in a week using 3 balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze. Isager Mohair would work equally well. You just cast on 90 stitches on 5m needles and knit the balls consecutively.

There is also much excitement as today is the publication date for the new Laine 7 magazine. Imported from Finland this is the most gorgeous of pattern collections. (We stll have a limited number of back issues of Laine magazines in stock.)

There are also various yarns and patterns on sale for those of you like a bargain. So why not come and see us soon for some knitting therapy?

Happy Knitting!
