In Praise of May Morning! - Oxford Yarn Store
  In praise of may day!

Thanks to all of you who supported Local Yarn Shop Day last Saturday whether in person, via phone or email or in spirit! It was such a fun day and lovely to see so many of our friends.

Thanks as well to all those who have responded to the call to contribute to our line-up of Customer Knits. We have a bumper crop this week and more in store. Do keep them coming. Everyone loves this sharing forum where knitters and crocheters of any skill levels can take pride in their work.

Here in Oxford we know that it is Spring since the blossoms are on show and last Wednesday was May Day. (A Pagan festival attempting to take our minds off politics.) Some of us were out at dawn on May Morning to hear the choir sing a medieval medley from the top of Magdalen College Tower in the tradition of several centuries. In this digital age, when just about anything can be accessed or synthesised by a hand-held device, it was wonderful to be part of a huge crowd temporarily silenced and enthralled by the purity of human voices giving praise for a Spring morning. It was certainly worth getting up at 4pm for the experience.

With a murky Bank Holiday weekend in prospect you are bound to have your knitting or crochet to hand. Like others I am full of plans for getting the garden up to scratch but fully prepared to switch to Plan B with a number of projects on the go. OYS is open as usual tomorrow from 10am - 6pm so do drop by. We are closed on Bank Holiday Monday.

Happy Knitting an Crocheting!
