Knit and Crochet on the Go! - Oxford Yarn Store
Knit and crochet on the go!

Apologies to those of you who look forward receiving our update from the woolface on a Friday afternoon. We are always happy to hear that people like to sit down with a mug of something (or, I assume, a glass - depending on the time at which we send it out) and contemplate what others have been knitting and crocheting. Yesterday we had a glitch with our website which ground things to a halt. There was a technical explanation for this but since it was communicated in Spanish (our web designer is Argentinian) I remain unenlightened as to the cause.

This week we are excited about a couple of things. First of all there was the delivery of Melanie Berg's pattern book 'Shawls'. (Melanie is known as Mairlynd on Ravelry.) You can read all about it below. A customer showed this book to me a while ago and I fell in love with all of the designs immediately. It is simply fab and shawl knitting is great for summer projects. Very portable. I should have ordered more copies as there was a stampede for it at Thursday evening Knit Club!

The other cause for jubilation is all about crochet. This week I finished a wrap that I have been making in the wonderful Perth sock that coes in a great variety of varieagted shades. What do you think? It was blissfully easy to crochet for a novice like me - basically a two row pattern. Also very portable.

If you fancy extending your crochet skills then here's some good news. As well as the Learn to Crochet and Improvers Crochet classes run by Kate del Nevo on Saturdays at monthly intervals (spaces still available for sessions this term), we are trialling crochet sessions through the summer led by Niky Quartermain, a passionate crocheter and crochet teacher. These will take place on Tuesday afternoons between June and August and will take the form of a summer crochet club - like our Knit Club but tutored. See below for dates and details.

We still have some lovely Juniper Moon cotton yarns on sale (while stocks last) as well as lots more ideas for summer projects. Do come by and see for yourselves.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

PS Check out our website for knitting and crochet workshops this term - places are still available.
