Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting

In this class, you'll delve into the renowned Fair Isle (also known as Stranded Colourwork) knitting technique, mastering essential skills such as reading charted patterns, stranding yarns across the back of your work, managing long floats, maintaining consistent tension, and managing yarn ends. This course offers a comprehensive introduction into two-colour stranded knitting.

 

You Will Need To Bring:

  • 1 pair of 4mm knitting needles (either straight or circular needles is fine)
  • 50g each of 2 contrasting shades of smooth double knit (DK) weight yarn (ideally a very light shade (white/cream/ecru/pale grey) and a darker shade.  

 

Skill Level:

You should be comfortable with the following

  • Cast On
  • Knit Stitch 
  • Purl Stitch
  • Cast Off
